Larry Orman has over 40 years leading nonprofit organizations in
California and has been on the Sierra Watch Board for over 10 years. He got his start in the Sierra as a teenager on a section of the John Muir Trail and fell in love with the high granite there. As a whitewater rafting guide in the 1970s, he grew to understand the watershed role of the range, and was heavily involved in the campaign to save the Stanislaus River from flooding by a dam
