Jeff Shellito

Jeff worked in the California Assembly and Senate for 20 years, including 11 years as principal consultant to the Assembly Natural Resources Committee.  Jeff also served as consultant for the Senate Natural Resources and Wildlife Committee and joint committee that provided legislative oversight for the public acquisition of the Headwaters Forest from the former Pacific Lumber Company.  Prior to that, Jeff spent 7 years as a budget analyst for the Office of Legislative Analyst and Joint Legislative Budget Committee.  From 2005 through 2008 Jeff was Government Affairs manager for California Trout, an environmental NGO.  Jeff attended Sacramento State University where he earned BA and graduate degrees in Government. 

Jeff has been active in environmental work in his spare time as well. He served on the Executive Committee for the Mother Lode Chapter of the Sierra Club and chaired the Granite Chief Wilderness Task Force, during the 1970’s and has also served as the treasurer for the rafting chapter of Friends of the River. 

Jeff is an alpine skier and avid whitewater boater who has rowed and led expeditions on Class III-IV rivers throughout the western United States.
